Too Personal… WAY Too Personal
So I picked up the phone and a patron who once asked me out asked if my coworker was in. I responded in the affirmative and put her on hold. This was strange because whenever she gets the chance she always wants me. I was elated because she’s irregular. When I write irregular I mean that she calls us all of the time asking us to provide her with information on lawyers and organic produce and urine stain removal and such, but she actually walks us thorough what we need to do as if she is online herself (e.g., click the blue button on the bottom left, etc…) Bizarre!
Anyway, I tell me colleague that he has a call on hold from our “friend” and he unenthusiastically picks up the phone. The following transaction took place:
She: “What if you’re sitting on the couch with your date and you’re holding each other and he calls you by someone Else’s name?”
Coworker: [blink] What’s the question?
She repeated her dilemma and responded that he could only give his opinion and that his opinion was that that wasn’t good.
She responded that that’s what she was thinking and the transaction ended.
He immediately told me about the incident and I was like WTF!?
WOW!!
I told him that I thought that he did a great job and that the only thing I would have added is that context is important, for example if this guy was married for like 10 years and recently divorced I would cut him some slack.
… Just another day, @ the Library.
Hmm, well, maybe she doesn’t know many men she trusts well enough to give her an honest opinion? I mean, it’s a bit odd, but sort of understandable imho.

Well…I’d have to give him that “evil-eyed” look as only I can…and then smack him upside the head, of course!

Since when is a librarian a personal therapist? you need to start charging your opinions 🙂

We have been “personal therapists” for as long as I can remember. I get “paid” with food & chocolate! He he he

Yeah, all public librarians should have degrees in psychology as well to deal effectively with the scenarios we encounter on a daily basis.

What a whacko. She asked you out, huh. Aren’t you glad you dodged that bullet?
